Battery Algorithms & Controls Design Intern
Aeravox Dynamics is seeking a highly motivated intern to join their Battery Algorithms team. The role involves developing and enhancing advanced battery management features and supporting the development of real-time battery control algorithms for mass-market vehicles and energy solutions.
Responsibilities
Collaborate within a dynamic, cross-functional team to develop and enhance advanced battery management features
Contribute to industry-leading battery products used in mass-market passenger vehicles and energy solutions
Analyze laboratory and fleet data to support the development, validation, and quality assurance of real-time battery control algorithms, ensuring safety and performance
Design, develop, and refine advanced battery control algorithms to improve vehicle performance and customer experience
Work closely with controls, battery cell, embedded software, system engineering, and vehicle integration teams to define requirements and conduct integration testing
Provide additional support to the Battery Software team as needed
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of battery chemistries, including LFP and NMC
Knowledge of battery control systems and algorithm design
Experience with battery management systems (BMS) and EV powertrains
Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++
Background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program at an accredited university
Ability to provide proof of current or upcoming enrollment (MS or PhD)
Knowledge of electrochemistry and battery modeling
Familiarity with vehicle control systems such as motors, onboard chargers, and thermal management systems
