Responsibilities
Collects fees for lease or rental of market stalls
Supervises the conduct of market business, acting as arbiter in buyer-seller disputes
Opens and closes the market
Promotes use of market through ads and promotional activities
Assigns and coordinates the work of laborers
Makes inspections of market area and property and directs necessary repairs
Implements and enforces City and Bureau safety policy through regular inspections of facilities and equipment
Trains and counsels subordinates in safety practices and meets regularly with them to discuss safety concerns
Prepares periodic reports on market activities and collections, and safety
Maintains a simple ledger of stall lessees, rentals and amount paid
Acts as weigh master on platform scales
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or G.E.D.; PLUS three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and operation of public market facilities OR three (3) years experience in the operation and maintenance of a large wholesale or retail food outlet; OR
Associate's degree in Food Service Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or closely related field PLUS one (1) year of experience as described in 1. above; OR
Successful completion of the Public Works/Public Service Administration Intern Program PLUS one (1) year of experience as described in 1. above
New York State Driver's License at time of appointment. This license must be maintained throughout employment in this title
