Responsibilities

Looking for an information security analyst/engineer with a focus in information security operations. The successful candidate will have strong understanding and implementation of NIST security controls including developing and maintaining of information security processes and procedures. Candidate will be called upon to maintain the rules and controls for information security and protect the information assets and work with critical and sensitive information on a daily basis
Working closely with other security engineers, Candidate will also be called up to conduct control assessments with minimal guidance
Candidate will serve as a security controls subject matter expert for business areas and participates in District level information security workgroups
Performs most routine day-to-day assignments with some supervision
Completes more complex tasks with minimal guidance from senior staff
Function as a central point of project communication and status for project team and management and communicate early and insure clear expectations
Working closely with IT and development teams to design secure solutions and applications, facilitating the implementation of protective and mitigating controls
Oversees risk management processes and acts as liaison to business units while they complete their own risk management processes
Responds to information security events by researching the symptoms of the event and working with all parties involved to determine the priority, cause, and resolution for the event
Tests, implements, and administers new information security systems provided by System workgroups and District Information Security Architects. -Documents and communicates information security events to peers, management, other IT areas, and customers to ensure all parties are aware of risk level and the impact on the overall information security posture of the

Work with project managers to ensure security is engaged in projects

Required

Three to five years of information security experience with a strong understanding of distributed networking and Windows and UNIX operating systems, database management systems, and applications
Familiarity with information security frameworks such NIST/ISACA/ISO
Strong interpersonal, analytical and customer service skills, including the ability to explain complex procedures in writing or verbally
Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing business needs and processes
Ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide off-hours support
Ability to identify, analyze, communicate and resolve security related issues
Strong understanding of access control methods including access control lists, encryption key management, and user and group administration
Strong understanding of risk management processes, both specific and industry standards
Strong understanding of various types of intrusion detection systems
Strong understanding of various firewall technologies
Strong understanding of computer networking
Strong understanding of two-factor authentication
Strong understanding of privileged session management
Strong understanding of encryption/data protection
Strong understanding of vulnerability assessment and vulnerability management methodologies
Strong understanding of new and emerging technologies
Strong understanding of industry and compliance regulations
Strong project management skills

Preferred

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or other industry certification
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an information technology field or equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or certification
Experience in at least one database DB2, MS SQL or Oracle with experience in either MySQL or PostgreSQL
Experience with interpreted development languages (Perl, Shell, SQL etc.)
Familiarity with Information Security tools such as vulnerability scanning tool, access monitoring tool, etc
