Responsibilities
Draft, review, and prosecute patent applications, including preparing specifications, claims, and responses to Office Actions
Support patent litigation matters, including case strategy support, discovery preparation, and coordination with technical experts
Translate complex engineering concepts into clear, defensible patent claim language
Conduct invention intake discussions and collaborate with inventors, engineers, and in-house stakeholders
Assist with patentability, infringement, and validity analyses as part of prosecution and litigation support
Manage deadlines and workflow across multiple matters while maintaining high-quality work product
Provide superior client service to a national and international client base
Qualification
Required
Minimum 2 years of patent prosecution experience
Engineering degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field
HVAC systems experience required (technical background or substantial matter exposure)
USPTO registration required
Must be barred in the state of employment (Georgia bar or ability to meet the firm's requirements for the Atlanta office)
Strong written and oral communication skills with a detail-oriented drafting style
Strong organizational and analytical abilities; ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred
Patent litigation experience or strong interest in developing litigation capability alongside prosecution
Exposure to additional forms of intellectual property (trade secrets, trademarks, copyright) is advantageous
Experience supporting clients in technology-forward or highly regulated industries
