Responsibilities
Develop CFD models (Air and Liquid) of data center white space and outdoor infrastructure
Simulate airflow, heat transfer, and pressure distributions to evaluate cooling performance, containment strategies, and equipment layouts
Analyze interior and exterior data center conditions to optimize airflow, thermal behavior, and environmental performance
Evaluate exterior environmental conditions including wind loading, heat island effects, and outdoor air intake behavior
Interpret simulation results to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for design improvement
Collaborate closely with the Architectural/Electrical/Mechanical design teams to support data center system design decisions
Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing modeling assumptions, methodologies, results, and design recommendations
Support design optimization for cooling systems, containment solutions, and equipment placement
Maintain and refine CFD simulation libraries, including equipment models, boundary conditions, and environmental templates
Ensure CFD modeling and design recommendations comply with ASHRAE TC 9.9 and internal data center design standards
Qualification
Required
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Existing Mechanical Design & CFD experienced support data center projects, ideally 3-5 Years of experience
Experience with data center cooling technologies including IT equipment, emergency generators, air-cooled/water cooled chillers, cooling distribution units, cooling towers, adiabatic coolers, CRAH/CRAC units, liquid cooling systems, and containment solutions
Strong understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics as applied to HVAC and data center systems
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and facility layouts
Ability to manage multiple CFD modeling tasks with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
Knowledge of industry standards relevant to data center design
