Global Director of Quality - Aerospace & Defense

Charles Street Talent is partnered with an Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing client to hire a Global Director of Quality. This role is responsible for establishing and improving the Quality Management System across multiple sites while ensuring compliance with industry standards and driving a culture of quality and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Lead the enterprise Quality strategy across multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer requirements
Serve as the senior quality authority for aerospace and defense programs, providing governance, escalation, and resolution of quality risks
Build and mentor site Quality leaders and teams, promoting consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement
Own and maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and applicable regulatory standards
Ensure effective deployment and standardization of QMS processes across all sites, including document control, change management, and risk management
Lead management reviews, internal audits, and corrective action systems
Act as the primary Quality interface for customers, regulatory agencies, and third-party auditors
Lead responses to customer audits, regulatory assessments, and external certifications
Manage customer quality issues, escapes, and corrective actions, ensuring timely root cause analysis and sustainable resolution
Drive defect reduction, yield improvement, and cost of poor quality (COPQ) reduction initiatives
Oversee corrective and preventive action (CAPA), root cause analysis (e.g., 8D, RCCA), and statistical process control (SPC)
Partner with Operations and Engineering on process qualification, FAI/PPAP activities, and new product introductions
Oversee Supplier Quality strategy, including supplier qualification, audits, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation
Collaborate with Supply Chain to address supplier nonconformance, corrective actions, and continuous improvement
Ensure adherence to export control, configuration management, and traceability requirements
Promote a strong quality and compliance culture aligned with aerospace and defense ethical standards
Proactively identify and mitigate quality and compliance risks across programs and sites

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field
10+ years of progressive Quality leadership experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing
Demonstrated experience overseeing Quality across multiple manufacturing sites
Must have global site management experience
Deep knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace regulatory requirements
Proven success leading audits, managing customer relationships, and driving systemic corrective actions
