NEOGOV is seeking a Traffic Electronic Technician to ensure the safety and quality of transportation for City of Enid residents. The role involves the installation and maintenance of traffic signal systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

Install various new traffic signal equipment at specified locations and update existing equipment
Install, replace, or adjust filters, light bulbs, screws, bolts, washers, luminaries, poles, load switches, controllers, and associated equipment to adjust and maintain traffic signal equipment
Drive city vehicle to transport equipment and travel to various work sites
Inspect traffic signal systems’ equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment, replacement, or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
Test traffic signals’ systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
Diagnose malfunctioning traffic signal apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
Remove, rebuild, or replace existing traffic structures to include the removal of concrete
Design and create regulatory, warning, construction, guide, school, recreation, and custom signs, and street markers
Set up or remove barricades, traffic cones, warning signs, or similar objects to provide traffic control on work sites
Install and monitor traffic count equipment
Operate bucket truck, trencher, backhoe, and front-end loader
Maintain current apprentice license to meet governmental regulations
Provide assistance to other departments as needed
Perform other duties as required

Required

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 6 months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
IMSA Level 1 Signal Technician certification within 2 years of employment
IMSA Work Zone Safety Temporary Traffic Control Certification within 1 year of employment
Basic electrical knowledge and electrical safety knowledge
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, safety, and maintenance
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Accurate and attentive to detail
Familiarity with heights and electrical voltage
Good communications and public relations abilities
Basic typing and computer application skills
Ability to assist and support others
Able to operate telephone, PC, copier, and other basic business machines
Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Must be 21 years of age

Preferred

3-5 years experience in related field
Additional Coursework and/or training in related field
Working Knowledge of Traffic Control Systems
IMSA Level II Signal or Bench Technician Certification
IMSA Level I or II Signs & Marking Certification
IMSA Level II Traffic Signal Construction Certification
Ability to fill in for Lead Traffic Electronic Technician for short periods of time
Valid CPR certification
Defensive Driving
Class B CDL
8+ years experience in related field
Unlimited Journeyman's License
Mastery of Traffic Control Systems
Advanced Electrical & Electronics Safety Application
IMSA Level III or IV Signal or Bench Technician Certification
IMSA Level III Traffic Signal Construction Certification
IMSA Level III or IV Signs & Marking Certification
Ability to fill in for Traffic Systems Specialist for extended periods of time
Completion of coursework in networking, web design, and/or web interface
Associate's Degree or equivalent in related field
Ability to fill in for Journeyman Electrician for short periods of time (if licensed)
Class A CDL
