IT Security Analyst II (Network/Cloud Security)

The Security Analyst II will enhance WGU’s security posture by designing and implementing Zero Trust solutions, responding to incidents, and collaborating with various teams to protect sensitive data and services.

Responsibilities
Provide expertise in information security, specializing in Zero Trust Architecture, cloud, and network engineering
Mentor and supervise less experienced security analysts
Collaborate with architects, risk professionals, and other specialists to build and integrate security tools and procedures
Handle penetration testing, incident handling, digital forensics, continuous monitoring, and intrusion detection/prevention
Implement tools, processes, and communications supporting security initiatives
Develop and maintain documentation for security systems and procedures
Evaluate, select, test, and implement security-focused products and services
Lead or participate in projects addressing security risks across technical domains
Operate security tools and processes, ensuring consistent execution of established practices
Investigate and correct unusual security configurations and implementations
Continuously improve security practices and collaborate on new practices
Efficiently process service request tickets
Qualification
Required
CISSP or equivalent knowledge and experience in information security
3 or more years of hands-on experience in Information Security, Security Engineering, Cloud Security Engineering, or Network Security Engineering
Practical experience with Zero Trust Architecture and related tools such as NordLayer, Cloudflare One, Zscaler, Twingate, and/or Palo Alto Networks
Strong background in securing and administering network devices and operating systems, including configuration hardening and access control
Proven experience in incident handling, computer forensics, intrusion detection systems, firewalls, antivirus, and centralized logging / syslog
Experience working with compliance and regulatory requirements and interpreting and implementing security standards in a corporate environment
Preferred
8 or more years of information security experience, especially in Network and cloud Security roles
Experience designing and deploying security solutions in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure, and with endpoint security platforms
Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC, CCSP, CCSK, AWS security certifications, or similar, plus experience creating end‑user security documentation and operating guides
