Drafter

Total Fire Protection is committed to delivering first-class service in fire and life safety. They are seeking an experienced Drafter to design, draft, and produce technical drawings for fire protection systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Create detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings for fire alarm, suppression, and sprinkler systems
Interpret specifications, NFPA standards (NFPA 13/72/96), and local codes
Produce shop drawings, riser diagrams, and system layouts for permits and approvals
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field technicians to resolve design challenges
Update drawings per AHJ feedback and design revisions
Maintain organized CAD files and generation of materials schedules
Support material take-offs, submittals, and procurement documentation
Other duties as assigned

Required

CAD certification or Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (drafting, design, engineering)
Proficiency in AutoCAD (with Revit or similar software a plus)
Working knowledge of NFPA standards and fire codes
Strong technical drawing interpretation ability
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication skills; team-oriented mindset
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Strong verbal and written communication
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure

Ability to travel as needed
Experience with central station monitoring systems
Understanding of hydraulic calculations for sprinklers
Familiarity with UL/FM listings and code compliance processes
Experience in kitchen suppression systems design
