Accounting Director/Manager
Security Bank Midwest is searching for a highly organized and analytical professional to fill their Accounting Director / Manager Position. The role leads the day-to-day accounting function of a $300 million independent community bank, ensuring accurate general ledger activity, timely month end close, and strong internal controls while partnering closely with various departments to support financial insights for the bank's leadership.

Responsibilities
Own daily, month and quarterly close (Journal Entries, Accruals, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting and Intercompany Transactions)
Maintain the chart of accounts and documented accounting policies / procedures
Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations: clear reconciling items promptly
Oversee accounting for loans, deposits, investments, borrowings, premises and equipment
Prepare monthly financial statements with variance analysis and management commentary
Prepare and file FFIEC 051 CALL Reports and applicable state filings accurately and on time
Support external audit, internal audit, and regulatory examination (F.D.I.C. and State of SD)
Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory accounting, including CECL / ACL for Loans and investment credit losses when applicable
Coordinate tax information reporting and liaise with external tax advisors
Maintain internal controls commensurate with size and complexity of a $300 million bank
Reconcile correspondent bank accounts
Monitor Federal Home Loan Bank collateral and pledging
Monitor Public Funds Reporting
Track investments and credit loss reporting
Assist with daily cash position, wires / ACH settlement controls and liquidity reporting
Assist President with Asset Liability Committee
Oversee Accounts Payable and Expense Management
Supervise and coach a small accounting / operations team
Partner with Loan & Deposit Operations on end-to-end control integrity
Serve as Primary Contact for Auditors, Examiners and key Finance Vendors
Identify financial risks, control gaps, and opportunities for process optimization
Develop monthly forecast and annual budgets by compiling financial data, analyzing trends, variances, and evaluating key components of the income statement and balance sheet
Own treasury operations: cash positioning, liquidity management, and cash forecasting
Maintain Holding Company Financials and Track Tax Distributions to Shareholders

Preferred
Bachelor's degree in accounting
Certified Public Accountant preferred
Bank Accounting Experience preferred
Strong technical accounting foundation and practice judgment
Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

High integrity and discretion handling confidential information
Experience in preparing Board Materials and working directly with auditors and examiners
