ITS/Traffic Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

Roadway and highway reconstruction
Fiber optic and wireless communications systems, including network architecture, systems engineering, conduit layouts, and power distribution for ITS devices
Traffic signal system design, including electrical wiring, conduit layouts, power distribution, and interconnection of traffic controllers, signal heads, and detection systems
ITS infrastructure design, including layout and electrical design for dynamic message signs (DMS), closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, vehicle detection systems, and roadside communication devices
Highway, roadway, and intersection lighting design, including photometric analysis, circuiting, and electrical load calculations
Preparation of design plans using AutoCAD and MicroStation
Preparation of Electrical load calculations, wiring diagrams, and panel schedules for traffic signal, ITS, and lighting systems design with minimum oversight

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 2 years of relevant experience in Electrical Design or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience with design software including AutoCAD and MicroStation
Familiar with NEC codes and lighting calculations

Preferred

3+ years of relevant experience
Engineer in Training certification (EIT)
Studying for the Professional Engineer exam
Experience in ITS, traffic signal, or lighting design
Strong communication, technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
