Interim Legal Operations Specialist

Major, Lindsey & Africa is a global logistics company seeking an experienced Interim Legal Operations Specialist to support their client’s contracts team on a part-time basis. This role involves managing the full contract lifecycle, advising stakeholders on contract-related matters, and implementing efficient contracting processes.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate customer agreements (most in customers’ format) and NDAs. Handle the executed agreements during their term, including developing amendments
Review, negotiate, and prepare real estate leases and manage the executed agreements during their term, including responding to requests from Branches as to disputes and questions
Use contract templates/playbooks, revise and enhance as needed
Assist and advise the Global Team and Branch Managers on contract-related issues
Interact directly with team members on contract questions, propose changes to templates, and advocate firmly to protect the interests of the company
Advise when requested in RFP analysis and interpretation, including risk analyses and recommendations for proposal strategy compliance
Coordinate with the HR Manager and outside counsel
Assist the Credit Manager in overseeing outside counsel, key stakeholders and other third parties to ensure business costs are kept to a minimum
Share external legal advice with stakeholders to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and enable informed decision‑making across the business
Implement efficient contracting processes and develop policy and training programs
Oversee the accurate input of relevant information into the electronic contracts database consistent with applicable document retention and other corporate policies
Update terms and conditions on the company website as needed
Maintain Corporate Book and prepare Annual Meeting documents as requested by the Board

Required

Bachelor's degree (Business, Accounting, or Operations)
5+ years of experience drafting, reviewing, editing, and negotiating contracts, including, customer agreements, vendor agreements, staffing agreements, NDAs, real estate leases, RFPs and procedure manuals
Working knowledge of contract management workflows and experience using templates and playbooks
Experience maintaining corporate books and records, including coordinating preparation of annual meeting documentation in support of Board and shareholder requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams, as well as contract management database software
Excellent oral and written communication skills including an ability to clearly, concisely and effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
Highly organized with a great attention to detail and be able to recognize when terms and conditions are non-standard
Strong analytical skills and detail‑orientation, including superior proof-reading skills. Solid understanding of contractual issues related to risk and reliability
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers of common fractions and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percentages; creating and interpreting basic graphs
Strong problem-solving skills and an effective at listening, understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and business clients

Preferred

Contracts Certification, Paralegal Certification, or J.D. would be a plus
Experience in transportation and/or logistics strongly preferred
