Responsibilities
Execute risk-based internal audits covering:
BSA / AML
OFAC & sanctions
Financial crimes compliance programs
Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls
Test areas including SAR governance, CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring, and sanctions screening
Document audit workpapers and draft clear, defensible audit findings
Identify control gaps, root causes, and practical remediation recommendations
Partner with compliance stakeholders, audit leadership, and external audit resources
Track and validate management remediation activities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
4–5+ years of experience in internal audit, compliance audit, or public accounting within a regulated financial institution
Strong working knowledge of BSA/AML and financial crimes regulatory frameworks
Experience evaluating compliance programs—not performing day-to-day AML investigations
Familiarity with risk-based audit methodologies
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
Exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Clear, concise written and verbal communication
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Sound professional judgment and objectivity
Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
Preferred
Certifications such as CIA, CAMS, CRCM
Experience in complex or multi-entity financial services organizations
