Intellectual Property Paralegal

DeWitt LLP is a law firm seeking a full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal for its Intellectual Property practice group. The role involves assisting with the preparation of formal documents and supporting attorneys with various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparation of formal documents, including Application Data Sheets, IDSs, Declarations, Powers of Attorney, Assignments, Issue Fee Transmittals, and general transmittal letters
Send docket-filed reporting e-mails; assist with other reminders as needed
Provide docket report and FIP updates to attorneys
Assist with wire/check requests as needed; Assist with Expense reports as required; Save/address invoice e-mails as needed and direct to Accounting for processing
Assist with USPTO Filings
Prepare, proofread, revise, profile, and save correspondence and drafts of documents
Client billing activities include time entry, proofreading, modifying, and sending client invoices
Assist with opening new files using Aderant and Foundation IP
Prepare/send/save Engagement Letters to new clients
Scan in Mail and distribute to appropriate attorneys
Save e-mails for attorneys in NetDocs

Required

Education: Associate degree, High School Diploma, GED Equivalent, or industry-specific certifications
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ensuring precision in proofreading documents, filing, and meeting deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, and external parties
Familiarity with legal terminology, court systems, and document requirements
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, legal tools (e.g., case management systems, e-filing platforms, document management systems), and office equipment
Maintain discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive client and case information
Ability to anticipate attorneys' needs and proactively address issues
