Structural Detailer
IAC is a fast-track, high-technology equipment design and fabrication company seeking a skilled Structural Detailer to join their team. In this role, you will create precise technical drawings for steel structures and collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities
Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings of steel structures, including beams, columns, trusses, platforms, and other industrial components
Generate shop drawings, erection plans, and material lists for fabrication and construction
Interpret and review engineering designs, architectural drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to resolve design issues and optimize detailing processes for manufacturing efficiency
Utilize detailing software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Advanced Steel, Tekla Structures or SDS/2 to produce accurate models and plans
Perform clash detection and proactively identify potential fabrication or installation challenges
Ensure all drawings and designs comply with AISC, OSHA, and project-specific standards
Maintain thorough documentation of all revisions and updates to shop drawings
Assist in estimating material quantities and verifying bill of materials (BOM) for projects
Support quality control processes by reviewing and refining designs before submission
Qualification
Required
Education: Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, Engineering, or a related field
Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in steel detailing or structural drafting
Proficiency in Advance Steel preferred, or similar detailing software. AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, SDS/2
Strong understanding of structural steel components, welding symbols, and fabrication processes
Knowledge of AISC and OSHA standards for steel structures
Ability to interpret sketches, technical drawings, and engineering specifications
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineers, fabricators, and project managers
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to work onsite in Overland Park, Kansas—this is not a remote position
Preferred
Experience with BIM modeling and clash detection tools
Knowledge of material take-offs and estimating
Familiarity with CNC and automated fabrication processes
5+ years of relevant experience in Steel Detailing
Ability to read design drawings, structural drawings, and plan sets
Fast-track building construction experience is a plus
Experience in heavy industrial design and construction preferred
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
AutoCAD, Inventor, Advance Steel and Viewpoint Spectrum experience is a plus
Familiarity with Dust Collection Equipment (Baghouses, Cyclones, Ductwork, etc.), Bulk Material Handling Equipment, Dryers, Piping, Conveyor Systems, and Structural Steel is a major plus
Proficiency with MS Office Suite products
