The role requires strong technical knowledge of Swiss machining and quality inspection to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and production standards.
Responsibilities
Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs for Swiss-type machines (e.g., Citizen, Star, Tsugami)
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications to develop machining strategies
Select appropriate tooling, speeds/feeds, and cutting parameters for efficient and accurate machining
Perform complete set-ups of CNC Swiss lathes, including tooling installation, offsets, bar feeder setup, and work holding
Load programs, verify operations, and perform dry runs to ensure readiness for production
Adjust tooling and offsets to maintain tight tolerances during production
Operate Swiss CNC machines to produce parts to print
Diagnose and correct machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, dimensional deviations, or surface finish problems
Monitor machine performance to ensure optimal production rates and minimal downtime
Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, vision systems, etc.) to verify part conformity
Maintain process documentation, setup sheets, and inspection records
Ensure all work complies with company quality systems (ISO, AS9100, medical device requirements, etc., if applicable)
