Responsibilities
Lead interconnection activities for renewable energy projects from feasibility through executed Interconnection Agreements and construction support
Review and support the design of MV and HV electrical systems, including substations, switchyards, collection systems, transformers, and POIs
Prepare and review single-line diagrams, interconnection exhibits, equipment specifications, and technical submittals
Coordinate and review power system studies (load flow, short circuit, grounding, protection, and relay coordination) performed by utilities or consultants
Evaluate interconnection study results and cost estimates; identify technical risks and cost optimization opportunities
Serve as a primary technical point of contact with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, consultants, EPCs, and transmission owners
Support meetings with utilities and regulatory bodies, representing the company with technical credibility
Coordinate internal stakeholders across development, engineering, construction, and finance teams to align technical decisions with commercial objectives
Manage multiple interconnection efforts simultaneously across different project stages
Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and coordination for junior engineers or external consultants
Support construction-phase electrical scope coordination related to interconnection and grid compliance
Identify and communicate interconnection-related technical, schedule, and regulatory risks
Maintain organized project documentation and interconnection records
Contribute to the continuous improvement of interconnection workflows, tools, and best practices
Qualification
Required
BS in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
6+ years of experience in the power, energy, or utilities industry
Demonstrated experience with MV and HV electrical infrastructure, including: Substations and switchyards, Distribution and transmission systems, Transformers and protection systems
Experience supporting or leading interconnection for power generation projects (renewables preferred)
Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently across cross-functional teams
Experience managing or leading a diverse technical team or consultants
Strong working knowledge of power systems fundamentals
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Visio
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to travel up to 15%
Valid driver's license
Authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
Preferred
Experience with solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Familiarity with ISO/RTO interconnection processes (PJM, MISO preferred)
Experience working with EPCs, utilities, or renewable energy IPPs
Experience reviewing construction drawings and supporting field execution
EIT or PE license (or progress toward licensure)
