Director of Business Development
McEldrew Purtell is a nationally recognized plaintiffs’ law firm focused on catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and complex litigation. They are seeking a senior, relationship-driven Business Development professional to lead and grow their referral-partner network in close partnership with the Founding Partner.
Responsibilities
Lead the firm’s referral-partner business development efforts through long-term relationship building
Serve as the primary relationship point for referring attorneys and professional partners
Convert warm opportunities into signed, high-quality matters in coordination with attorneys and intake teams
Represent the firm at meetings, events, and partner engagements
Maintain disciplined visibility into referral activity and performance for leadership
Partner closely with the Founding Partner on business development strategy and execution
Qualification
Required
5+ years of relationship-driven business development experience in legal, plaintiff-side, or closely aligned professional services
A strong existing network in the Philadelphia legal and/or medical community (plaintiff-side strongly preferred)
Proven ability to build trust-based referral relationships with sophisticated professionals
Confident, polished presence in meetings, events, and one-on-one settings
Strong follow-up discipline, written communication skills, and professional judgment
Comfortable operating autonomously while partnering closely with senior leadership
