Responsibilities

Support the design, integration, and installation of manufacturing equipment and electrical control systems
Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis for controls, robotics, and automation issues across existing programs and plant operations
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and plant personnel to implement reliable controls and automation solutions
Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC logic, HMI interfaces, safety circuits, and networked control devices such as Cisco IE3400 switches
Participate in the development, testing, and deployment of advanced manufacturing and process technologies
Provide hands-on electrical and controls support to body shop operations during commissioning, launches, and issue resolution
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including equipment upgrades, optimization, and minor modifications
Monitor and maintain equipment performance to ensure efficient operation and consistent production quality

Required

5+ years of experience in Controls Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation systems, Fanuc robotics, Siemens HMIs, industrial safety systems, and plant commissioning activities
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a desire to grow technical depth
Knowledge of GM's common global controls architecture
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly
Demonstrated ability to follow established engineering and safety standards

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
2–4 years of experience in controls or automation engineering
Experience supporting body shop manufacturing operations or automotive production environments
Familiarity with digital manufacturing tools, equipment commissioning, or automation optimization
Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage work with increasing independence
