Postdoctoral Fellow

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to join an NIH-funded program investigating the innate immune response to HIV-1 infection. The role involves identifying mechanisms of immune response and working collaboratively in a research team.

Responsibilities

Join an NIH-funded program to investigate the activation of human host innate immune response by HIV-1 infection
Identify novel mechanisms of innate immune response, including production of type one interferon, to address questions underling host immune protection as well as immunopathogesis upon HIV-1 infection
Utilize approaches from molecular biology, virology and immunology to various human immune cell cultures to support study of HIV-1 infection in different modes
Design experiments, interpret data, and communicate findings clearly
Work collaboratively with graduate and undergraduate students at the laboratory

Required

The applicant should have strong hands-on laboratory skills in mammalian cell culture, basic molecular biology, and virology with considerable understanding of immunology and infectious diseases
The candidate should be able to design experiments, interpret data, and communicate findings clearly, and be interested in working collaboratively with graduate and undergraduate students at the laboratory
Candidates must have a PhD degree with publications demonstrating expertise in Biology, Molecular Biology, Virology or Immunology or a related field

Preferred

Experience in human primary immune cell culture, 3-dimensional cell culture system, confocal microscope, and advanced bioinformatic analysis is strongly preferred
