Budget & Finance Manager (11627)
Texas Woman's University is seeking a Budget & Finance Manager for the Merrilee Alexander Kick College of Business and Entrepreneurship. This role is responsible for analyzing budgetary data, forecasting financial trends, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making within the College.
Responsibilities
Conducts budgetary and financial analyses, forecasts, and projections to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement
Prepares timely, professional financial reports to aid in planning and decision-making by College leadership
Monitors and analyzes departmental operating budgets and supports departments with budget adjustments and transfers
Produce a ROI report and cost benefit analysis when requested
Responds to financial inquiries from faculty and staff regarding College-related expenditures
Prepares contracts for procurement and others
Supports the Dean’s Office with position control tracking, salary budgeting, and vacancy management
Reviews payroll data and flags discrepancies or concerns
Regularly prepares and communicates variance explanations related to College expenditures
Produces the necessary documentation for both internal and external reports
Provides training to College departments on financial systems, policies, and procedures, particularly in Oracle Cloud
Meets monthly with the Dean for strategic planning
Knowledgeable about the College’s fiscal policy and advises members of the leadership team on such
Able to read the University’s financial documents that are available to the College and analyze the potential impact on the College
Collaborates with the Dean and other leaders to develop and refine procedures for identifying and addressing significant budget variances
Assists in the annual budget development process for the College
Performs other duties as requested
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related area required
Four years of substantial and progressively responsible experience in budgeting, budget variance analysis and forecasting, accounting, or related area required
Knowledge of budgetary practices and accounting principles
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures
Knowledge of financial methods and/or procedures used to analyze data
Knowledge of budget, accounting, and purchasing systems and processes
Ability to analyze numerical detail, identify patterns or trends, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to demonstrate analytical, problem solving, and research capabilities and communicate results in a clear and professional manner
Ability to apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize, and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgement
Ability to establish, and maintain, positive and productive work relationships with the administration, faculty, staff, and the public
Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and outcomes
Ability to communicate and present ideas clearly both verbally and in writing
Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, etc.) and ERP systems
Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email
Ability to work independently to complete difficult or complex assignments with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism
Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully within a team environment
Must be able to handle situations with diplomacy and tact
Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position
Preferred
Emphasis in accounting and/or finance is preferred
Experience working in a college or university environment preferred
