Senior Manager - Airplane Safety Engineering Development Programs

Responsibilities

Manage managers of engineering teams performing technical activities in the area of integration of safety processes across multiple functional teams
Develop and maintain relationships with BCA Program, Enterprise Safety, Safety Management System (SMS), and functional team leaders as well as collaborate with regulators
Create and maintain a culture of open communication and collaboration with focus on continuous improvement and knowledge transfer
Promote talent acquisition and retention within the team by ensuring career development of direct reports, promoting employee recognition, and building a team culture that improves employee satisfaction
Establish and implement integrated team plans (e.g. backlogs, daily scrums, dashboards) to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved

Required

Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years of experience in an engineering role
2+ years of experience in an engineering management role
2+ years of experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams in a cross-functional environment with a wide variety of aviation stakeholders in diverse venues worldwide
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Schedule flexibility to enable effective coordination and engagement with a globally distributed team

Preferred

Strong motivation to prioritize retaining, developing, and growing team members
Experience with leading technical cross functional teams, working across organizational boundaries, and ensuring an inclusive environment
3+ years of experience in an engineering management role
3+ years of experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams in a cross-functional environment
Engineering background in Safety Engineering with experience applying System Safety industry best practices (e.g. ARP4761 and ARP4754)
Engineering background in Systems Engineering
Experience managing Engineering Unit Members (E-UMs) or Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs)
Prior experience with airplane development programs or post-ATC airplane support
Engineering background in at least one of the following disciplines: Aerodynamics / Flight Sciences, Lab / Ground / Flight Test, Interiors, Propulsion, or Airplane Systems (e.g., Flight Deck / Human Factors), and an understanding of certification processes
