Responsibilities
Serve as a Civil/Structural Engineer with expertise in the design, construction, and modularization of Nuclear Island structures and components
Demonstrate strong working knowledge of static and dynamic analyses, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, and composite structure design
Prepare system design deliverables, including system design specifications, structural analyses, and engineering calculations
Perform design and analysis of Safety-Related Nuclear Power Plant structures in accordance with: ASME B&PV Section III, Division 2; AISC N690; ACI 349
Analyze and resolve thermal stress effects in reactor containment structures
Define hydrodynamic input loads for dynamic response calculations of containment structures and Civil/Structural design
Develop engineering reports and licensing documentation
Interface with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, partners, and U.S. NRC and international regulatory authorities, on technical matters
Incorporate design requirements into analyses and design documentation using designated requirements management tools
Lead and perform design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for various BWR structural systems
Apply engineering judgment and practical experience to solve complex design and application issues
Develop drawings and specifications to ensure products meet all engineering and quality requirements
Collaborate with BWR product line and quality teams on process approvals, qualifications, and non-conforming material disposition
Execute work in compliance with applicable regulatory guides and industry standards for systems, equipment, and associated components
Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of engineering documentation and equipment packages in alignment with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory guidelines
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Minimum 8 years of experience in the energy industry (nuclear preferred) or a comparable technical environment
Minimum 3 years of experience in nuclear power plant BOP/TI design and/or operations
Minimum 2 years of experience in a program or technical leadership role
Minimum 2 years of experience working with customers, regulators, and suppliers
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more U.S. states or P.Eng (Ontario)
Master's or PhD in Civil Engineering
Strong strategic thinking, creativity, and ability to move quickly
Proven team-building and leadership skills
Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Open communication style with the ability to build strong working relationships
Working knowledge of BWR plants, particularly BOP/TI/HVAC systems
Experience in nuclear power plant construction
Knowledge of nuclear industry products, processes, and customers
Working knowledge of ACI, ASCE, and AWS codes and standards
Experience with steel plate composite structures
