Senior Buyer
Precipart, a precision manufacturing leader in Farmingdale, NY, is seeking a results-driven Senior Buyer to play a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted manufacturing operations through disciplined, strategic procurement. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective procurement of direct and indirect materials in support of manufacturing operations, ensuring material availability, inventory optimization, and supplier reliability.

Responsibilities
Execute purchase orders for complex, precision components, raw materials, subassemblies, and tooling, based on MRP signals, Kanban, or manual requisitions
Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels aligned with production demand and working capital goals
Maintain vendor relationships and performance scorecards; proactively resolve delivery or quality issues
Work closely with Engineering, Planning, and Production to support design changes, new product launches, and alternate sourcing
Maintain clean and accurate ERP records including lead times, order confirmations, delivery dates, and pricing
Identify opportunities to consolidate spend, reduce cost, and streamline part sourcing
Evaluate methods for process efficiency and vendor pooling for MRO purchasing for shop consumables, safety equipment, maintenance parts, and services
Manage procurement of value-added subcontracted services (e.g., heat treating, plating, coating, specialty machining) that require WIP to exit and re-enter the facility mid-process
Coordinate logistics, traceability, and lead time buffers for externally processed materials to ensure seamless reintegration into the production schedule
Ensure that supplier processing windows align with takt time requirements and that all handling, labeling, and routing instructions are fully documented and traceable in ERP
Monitor service vendor performance on WIP turnaround time, quality, and adherence to specifications; initiate corrective actions when variances affect downstream operations
Work closely with Quality and Production Control to verify that incoming post-processing material meets inspection requirements and is released for continuation of the manufacturing process
Ensure chain of custody is maintained throughout all external processing events to preserve lot integrity and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO 13485, AS9100)
Ensure all purchases comply with Precipart’s quality system, ISO 13485 standards, and internal control procedures
Uphold the foremost integrity and separation of interests in supplier and vendor transactions in accordance with Foreign Corruption Practices Act (FCPA) and UK Anti-Bribery Act principles
Evolve tools and business processes along with the significant growth the business will experience
Responsible for conforming with the company’s quality management system requirements, as well as contributing to its overall effectiveness, and the ultimate goals of customer satisfaction, product compliance and ethical practices/behavior
Partner with Planning and Manufacturing to align material delivery with production schedules
Work with Quality and Engineering on vendor qualifications and first article inspection requirements
Coordinate with Receiving and Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies on PO confirmations, shipments, or invoices
Support supplier evaluations and periodic business reviews
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent hands-on procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
5+ years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience in a precision manufacturing environment; regulated industry experience (medical device/aerospace)
Proven ability to manage complex, engineered components and external processing suppliers (e.g., heat treat, plating, coating) requiring WIP tracking and traceability
Demonstrated success in supplier relationship management, issue resolution, and performance improvement
Demonstrated success in cost reduction, spend consolidation, and alternate sourcing initiatives
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Planning, Production, and Quality
Familiarity with BOM structures, part numbering systems, and MRP-based planning
Experience with ERP systems (Infor LN an added benefit) and Microsoft Excel
Excellent organization, follow-through, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to fast-changing production needs

Preferred
APICS/CPIM or ISM certification a plus
