Assistant General Counsel

Investment Company Institute (ICI) is seeking an Assistant/Associate General Counsel to support the Independent Directors Counsel (IDC) in their education, policy, and fund governance-related work. The role involves developing educational content, analyzing regulatory proposals, and coordinating activities with various teams within ICI.

Responsibilities

Develop educational content for independent directors
Prepare agendas, materials, and topics for IDC meetings and events
Analyze regulatory and policy proposals affecting fund governance
Draft related communications and advocacy materials
Serve as liaison to IDC committees and working groups
Communicate policy and industry developments to directors
Coordinate activities with ICI’s legal, research, government affairs, operations, and strategic communications teams

Required

Candidates must hold a J.D
Candidates must be a member of a state bar
Candidates must have a minimum of seven years of relevant legal or policy experience

Strong understanding of registered investment companies and the asset management industry
Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills
Ability to manage multiple projects while working collaboratively across departments
