Responsibilities
Template Development: Design and build complex document templates using Advanced Template Designer (ATD) , including the creation of layouts, style sets, and shared content
Integration & Data Modeling: Create and maintain Data Models (XML/XSD/JSON) and map them to Guidewire business objects to ensure seamless data flow between systems
Business Logic: Implement sophisticated business rules, script libraries (JavaScript/Gosu), and assembly rules to automate document generation based on policy or claim triggers
Multi-Channel Delivery: Configure output channels for various formats (PDF, HTML, PostScript) and manage post-processing configurations for batch and on-demand delivery
Collaboration: Partner with Business Analysts and Guidewire Configuration/Integration developers to translate insurance requirements (e.g., regulatory forms, policy packets) into technical specifications
Testing & Optimization: Perform unit and integration testing; troubleshoot rendering issues, data mapping errors, and performance bottlenecks in the document generation pipeline
Qualification
Required
3–5+ years of hands-on experience with SmartCOMM (or Thunderhead/Business Content Studio)
Proven experience integrating SmartCOMM with at least one Guidewire module (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, or BillingCenter)
Proficiency in XML, XSD, XPath, and JSON
Strong scripting skills in JavaScript or Java/Gosu
Familiarity with Web Services (REST/SOAP)
Strong understanding of the P&C (Property & Casualty) insurance lifecycle, including policy forms, claims notifications, and billing statements
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and using tools like Jira and Bitbucket/Git
Preferred
Experience with SmartIQ for digital forms and automated workflows
Any Associate or Professional level Guidewire Certification
Exposure to SmartCOMM Cloud/Hybrid implementations or Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP)
Experience migrating legacy forms (e.g., from Exstream, Documaker, or Adobe) to SmartCOMM
