Human Resources Coordinator
Northwestern Illinois Association (NIA) is a regional governmental agency that provides special education support to 68 school districts across Northwestern Illinois. The Human Resources Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative and operational support across all core HR functions, ensuring compliance with regulations while supporting employees throughout the employment lifecycle.
Education Management
Responsibilities
Coordinate ISBE annual reporting, payroll processing, and benefits administration, including open enrollment and required notices
Serve as the primary HR contact for employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and benefits
Administer leaves of absence (FMLA, medical, ADA accommodations) and centralized attendance tracking
Manage workers’ compensation processes, OSHA reporting, and coordination with insurance carriers
Support recruitment efforts, including job postings, advertising, and job fair coordination
Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, personnel records, licensure tracking, and employment verifications
Maintain HR policies, job descriptions, intranet HR content, and confidential personnel files
Coordinate performance evaluation processes and generate routine and ad hoc HR reports
Ensure all HR activities align with organizational policies, laws, mission, and standards of excellence
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of HR functions, employment law (including School Code), payroll, benefits, and risk management
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining confidentiality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintaining complex records
