Vice President of Debt Asset Management
The Community Development Trust (CDT) is a national investor in affordable housing, making long-term equity investments and originating mortgages to support affordable housing creation and preservation. The Vice President of Debt Asset Management is responsible for managing a high-quality portfolio of first mortgage loans, overseeing third-party servicers, and ensuring compliance with regulatory programs while reporting on portfolio performance to executive management.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership and management in accordance with the mission and core values
Oversee the debt portfolio to ensure financial performance of the underlying properties meet or exceed expectations, and that they are physically and financially maintained at or above company standards
Creates and maintains comprehensive asset management/strategy plans for the portfolio
Prepares quarterly Board reports summarizing portfolio performance
Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes and policies with regard to debt portfolio
Responsible for the Asset Management loan database and working with the Finance team to ensure all loans are uploaded, maintained, and reported on for internal and external parties
Monitors portfolio to ensure that financial performance is in-line with historic operations and that variance explanations are within watchlist criteria and asset management policy
Provides timely, accurate and complete periodic reports, both internal and external, on the performance of the debt portfolio
Monitor compliance on CDFI grants programs related to debt portfolio
Responsible for asset management functions for legacy six-loan Charter School Commercial Real Estate Portfolio
Responsible for overseeing grant compliance on CDFI Awards for the Debt Program
Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with servicers, borrowers, consultants, lenders, and investors as the primary asset management contact for CDT’s debt portfolio
Qualification
Required
Minimum of seven to ten years of experience in a leadership role that includes mortgage servicing, asset management, mortgage lending, or affordable housing development including LIHTC
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or another relevant field
Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis for a national loan portfolio
Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning
Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
Preferred
Master's Degree preferred but not required
Strong preference for Metro New York-based candidates
