Responsibilities
Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses using the appropriate technical equipment and instruments
Provide accurate and reliable quality control analysis in a timely manner for routine and non-routine samples to support Production Units and ensure final products meet all quality requirements
Communicate out of spec product results to supervisor and production supervisor in a timely manner and isolate non-conforming product according to policy
Ensure all instruments are calibrated according to quality procedure and initiate non-conformances when necessary
Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, notifying supervision as soon as issues arise
Calculate test results, and log and report results using a computer
Document management, as assigned by the Quality Manager (i.e., COAs, SDSs, policy & procedure updates)
Maintain equipment in proper working order and maintain a clean work area
Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies
Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standardized formulas or create experimental formulas
Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
Adjust priorities when appropriate and perform other duties assigned to meet team goals
Exhibit safe behaviors and show commitment to the Company’s safety and quality programs
Support the Company’s goals and Core Values
Represent the Company professionally at all times
Qualification
Required
High school diploma required
4-6 years' experience in an industrial laboratory setting
Experience with ICP testing is required
Must be willing and able to work occasional weekends and overtime
Must be able to work independently and as a team member to meet company and departmental goals
Possess the ability to deal tactfully with coworkers at all levels, customers, suppliers, and the general public
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Strong computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office & Excel
Ability to multi-task in high production testing areas
Must be able to perform intermediate math calculations
Must be able to perform basic quality analyses based upon specifications
Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
Ability to utilize non-complex and complex instrumentation
Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace
Must have excellent command of the English language
Exposure to various chemicals
Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment
Willing and able to wear the necessary Personal Protection equipment (PPE)
This position primarily involves standing for prolonged periods of time, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing and pulling, and lifting
The position requires repetitive finger movements as well as hearing and talking on the phone and in person
Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of a team while maintaining a pleasant attitude
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in science-related field
Experience testing lubricants
Knowledge/understanding of viscosity
