Responsibilities

Work with the CEO and Chief Development Officer to set annual fundraising goals and measure progress against key performance indicators
Build and maintain comprehensive systems for tracking deadlines, calendars, and reporting structures to ensure compliance and timely submissions
Stay informed about trends in philanthropy and recommend strategies to increase funding from foundation and federal sources
Engage with existing foundation and government funders to maintain and build relationships with foundation, corporate, and government funders, seeking opportunities for increased funding and partnerships
Identify new potential funders, build strategies for engagement, and lead work to forge new relationships
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with program staff to ensure alignment between funding opportunities and organizational goals
Integrate and prepare leadership and program staff in funder meetings as strategically needed
Research, identify, and prioritize funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and public funding sources
Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and sponsorship proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports to secure funding
Develop customized proposals and pitches that align with the organization's goals and the funder's priorities
Collaborate with program, finance and communications staff to gather information for proposals and ensure accuracy in project budgets and narratives
Manage the grant calendar, tracking deadlines for proposals, reports, and other required communications
Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including reporting deadlines, budget tracking, and deliverables
Provide timely updates and progress reports internally and externally on the outcomes and impact of funded initiatives
Strengthen internal systems and processes related to grant management, financial reporting
In consultation with the Chief Development Officer, develop and execute a five year strategic plan for institutional fundraising to achieve the revenue goals of the foundations and grants program
Contribute to building a strong and collaborative team culture grounded in racial equity and inclusion

Required

Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant development experience in mission-driven nonprofits, working directly in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit management with a proven track record of success in securing funding from foundations, corporations, federal and state grant programs
Strong interpersonal skills with a strong track record of building relationships with diverse stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, persuasive language
Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
Strong understanding of the federal grant application process, including knowledge of government funding mechanisms and compliance requirements
Passion for the mission and values of the organization

Preferred

Familiarity with fundraising databases (Salesforce), grant management software (Instrumentl) and project management (ASANA) is a plus
