Human Resources – Benefit Specialist
Cleveland Area Healthcare System is seeking a Human Resource Benefit Specialist to administer employee health and welfare plans while acting as a liaison between employees and insurance providers. This role involves resolving benefit-related issues, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing administrative support to the HR function.

Responsibilities
Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes
Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries
Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personnel, disability, and FMLA
Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absence/disabilities
Answering Unemployment Claims
Injury reports and filing workers’ compensation claims
Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts
Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment
Assists with the open enrollment process
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data
Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
Assists with the processing of terminations
Scans and files documents into the appropriate employee files
Assists or prepares correspondence as requested
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related fields and/or 6 years of equivalent experience
At least two years of related benefit experience required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
