Responsibilities
Own architecture, systems design, integrations, and backend platform evolution for international operations
Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and system resilience across distributed services
Drive technical roadmap decisions, establish engineering standards, and mentor senior and junior team members
Provide horizontal leadership—removing blockers, navigating team dynamics, and aligning stakeholders
Oversee and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS), storage, database performance, and backend service deployments
Lead containerization strategies and cloud code best practices
Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, Postgres, and MongoDB
Oversee C# API integration, fintech-related workflows, and international payment support (Stripe, Worldpay, ACH, real-time rails)
Guide biweekly sprint planning with a long-term goal of achieving reliable 2-week production releases
Participate in remote whiteboard coding sessions and scenario-based collaboration
Ensure maintainability, monitoring, observability, and operational excellence
Lead a team of four engineers, including senior engineers and contractors
Collaborate closely with the Director of Engineering on strategy, delivery, and team culture
Support flexible schedule models (4x10 or 5x8) while upholding expectations for communication and meeting participation
Partner with cross-functional product teams to ensure feature delivery aligns with business outcomes
Qualification
Required
Strong experience with AWS (Lambda, ECS, Dynamo/S3, CloudFormation/CDK, etc.)
Professional expertise in Node.js & TypeScript
Hands-on experience with Postgres and MongoDB
Proven ability to lead technical teams (architecture, mentoring, delivery management)
Demonstrated experience ensuring system high availability and scaling distributed systems
Preferred
Experience with Python, C#, or React
Familiarity with fintech industry standards, including Stripe, Worldpay, and international regulatory compliance
Background in containerization (Docker, ECS/EKS, Kubernetes)
Experience with cloud-native application patterns and infrastructure-as-code
Background with Angular or mobile development (MAUI/Xamarin)
Understanding of ACH payment flows and real-time payment rails
