Strategy, Learning and Impact (SLI) Intern
Hopelab is dedicated to fostering greater mental health and well-being outcomes for Brown, Black, and Queer young people. The Strategy, Learning, Impact (SLI) Intern will support the organization by collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to monitor and measure change at a systems level while providing project management and learning support for the SLI team.

Responsibilities
Data analysis and visualization
Assist with collecting, cleaning, organizing, and analyzing data from multiple sources (e.g., program data, landscape/environmental scans, publicly available surveys and reports).
Create clear, audience-appropriate visualizations (e.g., charts, dashboards, slide visuals) that help communicate patterns in system-level indicators and impact data.
Help translate data into concise narratives and “so what?” takeaways that can inform program, partnership, and strategy decisions.
Support agenda setting, note-taking, and follow-up for internal strategic learning meetings (e.g., staff sensemaking sessions, portfolio reviews, and retreats).
Prepare and curate meeting materials (slides, dashboards, summaries, documents) that help staff and partners make sense of data and insights.
Coordinate logistics and materials for sense-making sessions with partners and for SLI-related meetings, including capturing key decisions and action items.
Partner with the functional leads and external evaluation consultants across Hopelab, helping feed their program data into org-wide evaluation processes
Parter with SLI to design collaborative systems learning and measurement opportunities for the broader youth mental health eco-system
Build strong working relationships characterized by listening, responsiveness, and a collaborative problem-solving orientation.
Communicate clearly and professionally with staff at different levels of the organization and with external partners.
Work within a dual-supervisor model during the internship period (e.g., being supervised by the Director of Learning & Impact as well as the Director of Strategy for different portions of the internship)
Proactively seeking clarity on priorities and communicating progress and needs.
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a graduate program (e.g., public health, social work, psychology, education, data science, public policy, or related field), or equivalent experience
Experience with data collection, cleaning, and analysis (quantitative and/or qualitative)
Ability to create clear, compelling visualizations and to communicate findings to non-technical audiences
Demonstrated skill in organizing meetings and working sessions (e.g., agenda setting, note taking, tracking follow-ups)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, follow through on details, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, openness to feedback, and an orientation toward shared problem-solving
Demonstrated ability to 'get things done' in a structured and reliable way, including delivering concrete outputs such as reports, presentations, or analyses
Demonstrated commitment to social good, mental health, and/or equity, particularly in relation to Black, Brown, and Queer young people
Interest in working in ways that center equity and learning
