Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation LLC is seeking a Jack & Bore Crew Laborer to perform general labor as part of a team on track projects. The role involves tasks related to construction, maintenance, and inspections, utilizing hand and power tools to support boring operations and site preparation.

Responsibilities

Cleans and prepares construction site
Utilizes hand and power tools (railway specific tools and others)
Digging ditches, trenches, backfills excavations and compacts and levels earth to grade specifications, using necessary tools
Work with Operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
Loads, unloads materials, machinery, and tools as necessary
Driving spikes and shoveling stone (railway ballast)
Moving and setting cross ties and lengths of steel rail
Adjusting switches, lubricating switches, and tightening track bolts including carrying 50lb track jack
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos & write simple correspondence
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Perform basic mathematics to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Comply with all rules and regulations and instructions
Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Troubleshoot issues and deal with typical problems that occur in track maintenance in the field

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to work nights, holidays, and weekends
The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
May be exposed to live track/trains and high voltage
Exposure to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather

Benefits
