Director of Business Development

As the Director of Business Development, you will lead SIMA’s growth strategy with a primary focus on expanding Payroll services and generating new opportunities across all service lines.

Responsibilities
Identify and onboard small- and mid-size business clients through proactive outreach and scheduled appointments
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects by developing referral sources and participating in Richmond-area networking and business events
Consistently close new payroll clients each month in alignment with established growth goals
Present SIMA’s solutions clearly and accurately, ensuring recommendations align with client needs
Maintain a strong working knowledge of all SIMA service lines to communicate value effectively across offerings
Partner with the Payroll team to ensure a smooth transition from sales to onboarding and support
Provide timely follow-up and responsive communication to prospects and clients throughout the sales cycle
Maintain accurate activity tracking and regularly report sales results to leadership
Manage deadlines and perform effectively under time-sensitive conditions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum of three years' experience in business development, sales leadership, or professional services sales
Customer service experience
Demonstrated experience building referral networks and strategic partnerships
Knowledge and successful implementation of networking
Self-motivated, results-driven leader
Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach
Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity
Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
Ability to manage workflow and prioritize initiatives effectively
Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
Proficiency with HubSpot, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
