Responsibilities
Analyze manufacturing problems and develop alternative approaches to their solution
Evaluate solutions for efficiency and cost effectiveness
Maintain practical knowledge of operating systems and mechanical equipment throughout the plant
Seek to improve manufacturing processes by developing awareness of state-of-the-art in mechanical and electrical technology
Keep Manufacturing Engineering Manager informed of the status of assigned projects
As required by the project, the position writes tool orders and material requisitions and explains the specific needs to tool and material vendors. If tooling work is done internally, the position explains the need to the department Supervisor for build or repair of required tooling
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME or BSEE preferred)
5+ years of experience in a related technical field is required
Work independently of management on multiple projects of varying levels of complexity and magnitude
Take initiative in project approaches and practical experience gained from past assignments to solve problems
Coordinate AFE's for assigned projects
Basis of accountability: Contributory on project expenditure
Comprehensive knowledge of Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or other AutoCAD packages require
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is required
Experience with manufacturing equipment and tooling is required
Experience with APQP to support launching projects
A strong mechanical background is required, particularly with automated manufacturing equipment
Considerable knowledge of Windows computer systems with the ability to configure systems for machine interface and network communication
