Human Resources Coordinator

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is one of the nation’s leading national racial justice legal organizations. The Human Resources Coordinator/Senior Human Resources Coordinator supports the department by providing administrative and operational assistance across various human resources functions to ensure a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with new employee onboarding and conduct first day orientations
Assist with the administration of health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
Assist employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures
Assist with benefits administration and reconciling benefits statements
Conduct reference checks and verifications of employment status
Complete Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files
Work with vendor to conduct new-employee background checks
Assist with recruitment, interview process, and hiring process, including submitting job postings online, scheduling candidate interviews through the applicant tracking database, tracking the status of candidates in HRIS, and responding with follow-up letters at the end of the recruitment process
Create and distribute recruitment reports
Manage internship and fellowship email inbox
Assist with the administration of the seasonal internship program
Assist with the processing of job changes and terminations
Assist with the preparation of the performance review process
Schedule meetings and interviews for Human Resources leadership as requested
Perform document management to include photocopies, emails, and scans
File documents into appropriate employee and vendor files
Prepare and distribute correspondence as requested
Assist with logistics for new hire orientations and employee training sessions
Process HR mail
Execute special projects and initiatives as assigned
Other duties, as requested, will be based on departmental and/or organizational needs

Required

A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent 4 years of experience required
A High School Diploma plus 4 years of administrative support experience is required
Excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to engage with others in a friendly and professional manner
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and professionally to a variety of audiences
Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures
Strong task and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, stay organized, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and exercising sound judgment when handling sensitive, proprietary, or personal information
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Ability to function well in a fast-paced and, at times, stressful environment
Strong record of cultural competence and cross-cultural communication skills
Proven experience exercising sound judgment to make recommendations regarding HR office purchases, service agreements, office contracts, etc
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, with staff and outside vendors while keeping management apprised of any special requirements or problems
Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure, stressful situations
Demonstrated experience and comfort in learning and using new workplace technologies such as HRIS systems and document management systems
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional Human Resources credential a plus
