DWM Electrical Engineer (South River)

City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management is seeking a DWM Electrical Engineer to design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical systems. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting electrical equipment in a wastewater treatment plant, providing technical support, and ensuring operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Provides technical support in the field when electrical and process control staff have problems identifying and/or repairing equipment
Research finding submittal data and drawings for repair and installation of equipment and provides contractors with information to complete their projects
Maintains and troubleshoots various motors found throughout the wastewater treatment plant
Maintains and troubleshoots variable frequency drives and programmable logic controllers
Installs, services, and repairs of all types of lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets, and wiring. Installs, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery
Constructs and maintains service equipment. Reads electrical circuit diagrams
Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment
Requisitions material and supplies from stockroom; calls vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommends purchases and suppliers
Transfers primary power from one power source to another utilizing transfer switches and tie breakers
Maintains efficient records on operations and activities; maintains plant safety records; maintains and record shipping and receiving of parcels; prepares a variety of reports on data; maintains records of plant function readings and equipment history; maintains preventative maintenance records and schedules
Occasionally supervises other regular employees; duties include assigning and reviewing work

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
At least three (3) years of progressively responsible wastewater engineering experience in operations, maintenance, or construction
Relevant electrical experience as a Certified Licensed Electrician in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting
10 years of related experience in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting
Knowledge of electrical engineering theory, practice, and terminology
Ability to apply Electrical Engineering knowledge to solve complex systems issues
Knowledge of industrial electrical troubleshooting
Knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment and systems used in the electrical trade
Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical trade
Knowledge of computer logic and programming
Knowledge of methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment
Knowledge of safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment
Skilled in operating basic hand, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools
Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
Ability to assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses
Ability to make rough sketches
Ability to estimate cost, time and materials of electrical work
Ability to analyze and respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations
Ability to perform preventive maintenance on switch gears and transformers
Ability to read and comprehend plans and blueprints as appropriate to trade
Ability to perform heavy physical labor
Ability to train and direct the work of other classified staff in the area
Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships
Class II Unrestricted Electrical Contractor License
Valid State of Georgia driver's license required

Preferred

Georgia Class B CDL license desirable
