Averro is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They are seeking a Senior Network Engineer – Service Provider with deep experience in designing, deploying, and operating large-scale carrier-grade IP networks, focusing on architecture, routing design, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Architect and implement carrier-grade L2/L3 networks using Juniper MX/EX/QFX, Arista 7000 series, and Mellanox/NVIDIA platforms
Design and operate large-scale BGP environments (iBGP/eBGP), including routing policy, prefix filtering, RPKI, and route redistribution
Lead VXLAN/EVPN fabric designs for data center spine/leaf architectures
Engineer multi-tenant network architectures supporting IXPs, Carrier Ethernet, and hyperscale environments
Build and maintain MPLS environments (L2VPN, L3VPN, Traffic Engineering, RSVP, Segment Routing)
Design high-availability architectures using ECMP, LAG, MC-LAG, redundant routing engines, and resilient control planes
Optimize peering, transit, and interconnect routing for performance, scale, and resiliency
Troubleshoot large-scale routing incidents including BGP convergence issues, MPLS/SR failures, and hardware faults
Perform ISSU/NSR upgrades, routing engine switchovers, and software lifecycle management
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts and document corrective and preventative actions
Support NOC escalations and manage vendor TAC engagements
Develop network automation using Python, Ansible, NETCONF, and REST APIs
Build CI/CD-style network pipelines and automated validation frameworks
Enhance telemetry and monitoring using gNMI, Juniper Telemetry Interface (JTI), Prometheus, InfluxDB, or similar tools
Engineer and support interconnections at facilities such as Equinix, Digital Realty, CoreSite, CloudHQ, and hyperscale POPs
Deploy DCI solutions, cross-connects, DWDM integrations, and turn up peering and transit sessions
Implement AAA, RADIUS/TACACS, and infrastructure hardening best practices
Apply BGP security standards including RPKI, max-prefix limits, route damping, and BCP38/84
Serve as a subject matter expert for Service Provider routing, traffic engineering, and data center fabrics
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and support operational teams
Advise on vendor selection, feature adoption, and hardware lifecycle planning
Qualification
Required
7–12 years of experience in ISP, carrier, colocation, or hyperscale network engineering environments
Hands-on expertise with Juniper MX/QFX/EX, Arista 7000 series, and/or Mellanox/NVIDIA platforms
Deep technical knowledge of BGP, OSPF/ISIS, MPLS, VXLAN/EVPN, and traffic engineering
Experience supporting POP operations and highly available routing architectures
Strong troubleshooting skills in large-scale, mission-critical networks
Preferred
JNCIP-SP or JNCIE-SP certification (strongly preferred)
CCNP-SP or CCIE-SP (bonus)
Arista ACE L3 certification
Linux and network automation certifications
Experience building or scaling networks in hyperscale or IXP environments
