Vice President - Broadway At the The National
Nederlander Organization is responsible for managing and programming The National Theatre, the nation’s oldest US venue still presenting touring Broadway. The Vice President will oversee daily operations, manage staff, and ensure the viability of the Broadway at The National brand while working closely with senior management and local unions.
Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate day-to-day theatre operations with Senior Staff
Supervise the Marketing, Production, and Facilities staff
Advance all show settlement procedures with traveling staff, box office operations, seating review, and COI requirements. Day-to-day contact for touring company management and local rentals
Draft, execute and update show settlements, including profit & loss and accounting entries
Review and approve weekly administrative and show payrolls
Manage all ticketed event settlements with information outlined by resources provided (including, but not limited to contracts, deal memos, and email correspondence for clarifications or revisions)
Input show schedules and deal information into Prism building calendar and manage local changes to the calendar
Request and submit for approval all certificates of insurance (COI’s) received for shows & events; including any necessary follow-up with appropriate parties
Oversee National Theatre VIP space and Concessions Income and payments to third parties
Assure appropriate local Theatre operating licenses are current and valid
Manage cost centers and oversee budgets
Identify and budget capital priorities and annual repairs & maintenance projects
Review all expense invoices and submit to accounting for payment; match to show settlement or other budgets
Review Monthly Financials (income/expenses related to shows, facility, or administration) for posting errors or omissions and coordinate with Finance on accruals and timing differences
Reconcile all third-party promotions or programs related to ticket sales
The Vice President partners closely with Finance and operates within established accounting policies, internal controls and approval frameworks
Work with VP of Programming to negotiate rental terms and produce cost estimates for rental events
Ensure compliance with all collective bargaining agreements
Serve as the primary liaison to local Union leadership
Maintain calendar of renewal dates and annual rate changes. Communicate to Senior Staff
Track labor issues for negotiations
Follow industry and local labor trends
Oversee Sr Director of Marketing & Audience Services on marketing strategies and guide expenditures and priorities to maximize success
Review marketing materials (print ads, outdoor displays, etc.) for accuracy and compliance
Liaise with NTF on major facility renovations or repairs
Ensure scheduling and impact on Broadway at The National programming
Manage emergency preparedness planning and all staff training
Qualification
Required
7-10 years of experience in a similar role
Ability to manage, and prioritize, multiple projects simultaneously
Effective, professional interaction with staff, show personnel, NTF, and local officials as the local representative of Nederlander
Strong writing, research, math, and detail-oriented skills
Operational rigor and a heart for people – bringing clarity, compassion, and collaboration to their work
Confident, outgoing interpersonal communication style
Knowledge and understanding of the theatrical production process
High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Working knowledge of labor contracts relating to Broadway touring venues
