Manager - Fuel Inventory
Sunoco LP is a growth company operating in fuel distribution, pipelines, and terminals. They are seeking an Accounting Manager to join their Operational Accounting team in Dallas, TX, responsible for overseeing fuel inventory accounting processes and ensuring the integrity of financial data.

Responsibilities
Research and gather information from the team to urgently identify and resolve issues and provide guidance to supervisors and leads
Cultivates and maintains productive relationships with internal counterparts to enhance process improvements aligned with company goals
Proactively engages in the learning and development of the team on key systems and processes to support future growth and efficiency
Promotes a culture of learning and development, encouraging team members to master various systems
Resolves issues accurately and with a sense of urgency
Responsible for a high-volume of accounting information moving between multiple systems
Ensures the integrity of financial data by reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and leveraging technical accounting skills to analyze trends in P&L and balance sheet accounts while identifying opportunities for process improvements through innovative solutions
Exhibits a record of sustained improvement in key metrics and contributes to the success of the overall team
Manage all LIFO (Last In, First Out) inventory accounting processes, including layer creation, maintenance, valuation, and liquidation impacts
Review and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual LIFO calculations to support fuel inventory valuation and cost of goods sold
Monitor inflation indices and apply LIFO pooling methodologies in accordance with GAAP and company policies
Analyze and communicate the financial impacts of LIFO on margins, inventory balances, and P&L fluctuations
Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and FP&A to understand purchasing trends and inventory movements that affect LIFO layers
Coordinate annual LIFO reviews with internal and external auditors, ensuring full compliance and documentation integrity
Identify opportunities to enhance or automate the LIFO methodology, including improvements to models, tools, and system based calculations
Qualification
Required
Strong understanding of fuel inventory flows, valuation, and cost accounting in a high-volume, multi-location environment
Strong leadership in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Significant level of personal accountability and ownership to proactively identify and address issues as they arise with limited oversight
Can develop and maintain highly productive relationships with internal and external counterparties through proactive, effective communication
Ability to create or improve accounting process
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
8+ years' experience
Preferred
Knowledge of Excel, RightAngle, Salesforce, Power BI, and SAP preferred
