College Intern – Aviation Environmental Waste Reduction and Outreach Support
The Port of Seattle is seeking a College Intern for their Aviation Environmental Waste Reduction and Outreach Support program. This internship will involve assisting the Environment & Sustainability Department with waste reduction initiatives and educational outreach, while gaining exposure to various environmental programs and project implementation strategies.

Responsibilities
Learn about SEA’s waste reduction programs and environmental education/outreach campaigns
Gather and analyze data, assess equipment, and document conditions related to SEA’s waste reduction programs through communications with Port staff and in-person inspections
Conduct research into waste prevention topics, under direction of Port staff
Conduct waste reduction and recycling program education, outreach, and training for airport tenants
Assist w/ updating and implementing environmental education/outreach campaigns
Support various projects and tasks within the waste reduction program and other environmental programs as workload and schedules allow
Participate in meetings and discussions with Port Environmental and other staff
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a degree program such as sustainability, natural resources, physical or environmental sciences or communications
Committed to Equity – You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work
Moderate proficiency using typical business communication and productivity software including Microsoft Office applications
Good organizational and time management skills
Ability to work through a logical methodology and identify individual steps required to reach a desired outcome
Must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
Must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle
Preferred
Introduction to waste reduction and sustainable materials management and communication and outreach principles through coursework, clubs, work experience or extracurricular activities
