This role focuses on SPIFFE/SPIRE and requires hands-on engineering skills to contribute to platform security initiatives.

Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and operate SPIRE Server and SPIRE Agent in cloud and Kubernetes environments
Design and implement workload identity solutions using SPIFFE standards
Configure and manage SVID issuance and rotation (X.509 and JWT)
Build or customize node and workload attestors
Integrate SPIRE with:
Kubernetes clusters
Service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd)
Envoy-based workloads
Support mTLS authentication between services
Partner with platform, infrastructure, and security teams to implement secure-by-default patterns
Troubleshoot identity, certificate, and trust domain issues in distributed systems
Qualification
Required
Hands-on SPIFFE/SPIRE experience (core requirement)
Kubernetes + mTLS implementation experience
Service mesh security (Istio, Linkerd, or similar)
PKI automation and certificate lifecycle management
Workload identity in cloud-native environments
Vault and certificate management integrations
Direct experience deploying and operating SPIRE
Strong understanding of SPIFFE IDs, trust domains, and workload identity concepts
Kubernetes experience in production environments
Preferred
Deep experience with Envoy or Envoy-based platforms
Background in platform or infrastructure security
Experience supporting large-scale, distributed systems
Prior work in regulated or high-security environments
