Lead/StaffLockheed Martin is seeking a Software Engineer Staff as a technical lead for the U-2 Sustainment and Modernization within the historic Skunk Works Organization. The role involves leading a team in the development of high-performance applications and participating in the full development lifecycle while working in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
Lead a team of software engineers, providing technical direction in the development of high-performance C++ applications for modern cockpit interfaces
Contribute to software solutions with an eye toward commonality and reusability to reduce long-term costs and maximize value across platforms
Participate in the full development lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation, testing, hardware integration, through sustainment
Translate hardware-software concepts into working prototypes, seeing them through rigorous testing and flight trials, and delivering them as operational, field-able assets
Qualification
Required
Strong software development skills
Ability to diagnose and explain complex problems
Deep understanding of software design and system architecture
Lead technical discussions
Prototype new features
Communicate concepts with program management
Participate in the full development lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation, testing, hardware integration, through sustainment
Strong Written and verbal communication
Understanding of software engineering best practices (Particularly C/C++)
Experience integrating software in an embedded hardware environment
Technical Leadership Experience
Preferred
Experience with OpenGL, Gtk, Qt
Avionics experience
Aerospace experience
Experience with virtualization, containers, and container deployment
Experience with the networking stack in Linux
Experience with software integration conducted with software from multiple different teams
