Senior Java/AWS Specialist
BMO U.S. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Specialist with expertise in Java and AWS to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable cloud-based applications. The role involves mentoring junior developers, optimizing system performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based applications on AWS
Implement microservices architecture using Java Spring Boot
Optimize application performance and security in a cloud environment
Design and deploy AWS cloud solutions using services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS and ECS
Develop and optimize microservices architecture hosted on AWS
Ensure high availability and fault tolerance of applications using AWS tools and best practices
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance
Collaborate with DevOps, security, and architecture teams to ensure best practices
Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards
Monitor application performance using AWS CloudWatch
Optimize application scalability, cost efficiency, and security on AWS
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently
Implement best practices for security and compliance in cloud-based applications
Ensure secure coding practices and AWS security configurations (IAM, VPC, Security Groups, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of Java development experience
3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
Strong proficiency in Java 8+ and frameworks like Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful APIs
Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS and ECS
Experience with Docker and containerization strategies
Proficiency in SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB, MongoDB) databases
Familiarity with at least one message queues (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ)
Strong understanding of CI/CD, Git, and Infrastructure as Code
Knowledge of monitoring tools like CloudWatch or ELK Stack
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile environment
Preferred
AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer)
Experience with serverless computing (AWS Lambda, Step Functions)
Knowledge of GraphQL, WebSockets, or gRPC
