Responsibilities
Lead and inspire a small 2D/3D art team, offering mentorship, feedback, and a cohesive artistic direction
Collaborate with the Art Director and cross-department leads to deliver high-fidelity art for characters, environments, animations, and VFX
Oversee asset creation (concept to implementation) using Unreal Engine 5 and industry tools, targeting AAA stylized visuals
Optimize shaders and materials for performance, balancing stunning effects on mid-tier hardware
Develop and enforce visual style guides, Art Design Docs, asset lists, and production pipelines for our indie-scale production
Innovate with creative solutions, exploring trends and real-time rendering
Maintain robust Art Reference libraries
Qualification
Required
5+ years leading art teams, with 2+ shipped mid-to-large titles (AAA experience a plus)
Expert in 2D/3D pipelines: concept art, modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, animation, and VFX
Proficiency with Maya, Blender, Substance Painter+Designer, and ZBrush
Strong communication to unite a passionate, volunteer crew under tight deadlines
Solid grasp of game dev workflows and optimization for indie budgets
Portfolio showcasing AAA-caliber diversity (e.g., fantasy/sci-fi environments)
Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative passion project
Preferred
Unreal Engine 5 skills (Blueprints, Niagara)
Love for fantasy/sci-fi with personal project flair
PBR workflow mastery and technical art know-how (e.g., shader tweaks)
Experience with stylized art on limited resources
