Farm Coordinator Intern, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm - Summer 2026
Exact Sciences is dedicated to changing how the world prevents, detects, and guides treatment for cancer. The Farm Coordinator Intern will assist in operating onsite hydroponic farms, which includes tasks such as seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and maintaining the farm to ensure safe food handling and sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities
Grow inside container hydroponic farms including seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and packaging produce
Clean and maintain the hydroponic farm, including general farm cleaning, refilling water and nutrient tanks and calibrating sensors
Test and maintain water quality for growing
Maintain a safe working environment
Troubleshoot automated nutrient systems when issues arise
Assist in retail greens program including inventory management
Lead farm tours for onsite employees and fellow interns
Plan and support community zero-waste opportunities
Uphold campus sustainability initiatives
Champion of an effective food safety program
Work collaboratively with food service and catering
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to maintain a solution-oriented mindset
Excellent organizational skills including the ability to organize projects, record data, and maintain timelines for tracking progress
Strong, reliable worker with ability to work independently
Self-starter who has great attention to detail and a willingness to learn new subjects
Proactive, goal-oriented individual who takes pride in their accomplishments
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to work designated schedule
Ability to work nights and/or weekends
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for approximately 10% of a typical working day
Ability to work seated for approximately 20% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 80% of a typical working day
Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 20% of a typical working day
Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height
Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously
Ability to use a telephone through a headset
Ability to bend at the waist, crouch, stoop, squat and kneel
Ability to work in hydroponic farm conditions
Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements
Ability and means to travel between Madison locations
Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel
Qualification
Required
Working towards a bachelor's degree in plant science or related field
Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, email usage, word processing and cloud base application technology
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Coursework or professional working knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
Coursework or professional working knowledge of basic agriculture growing practices, particularly around controlled environment agriculture
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation
