Research IT Operations Intern - Summer 2026 - ELSYS

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is the nonprofit, applied research division of the Georgia Institute of Technology. They are seeking a highly motivated student Intern for the upcoming Summer 2026 semester to join their IT Operations Team, assisting with research project work and providing IT support to employees and researchers.

Responsibilities

Assist with research project work throughout the Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS)
Manage the helpdesk ticket systems
Provide IT support to ELSYS employees and assist researchers and engineers with various projects

Required

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Security Assurance, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Computer Science or a similar field of study
3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit
Be interested in learning IT operations (including but not limited to system administration/deployment, networking, software troubleshooting, and security)
Basic familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems, various types of computer hardware, and networking
A passion for technology, and a desire to grow as an IT professional
Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance

Preferred

Task/team leadership experience
Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
Knowledge of Linux operating systems is considered a plus
