Responsibilities
Plan subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes, advancing CPTs, and performing other onsite geotechnical tests at various sites throughout Northern California
Review and assess soil and rock samples for laboratory testing
Plan and supervise inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards
Perform engineering analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundations
Perform seismic stability and deformation analyses of dams, including earthquake ground motions, liquefaction potential, and earthquake-induced and fault-Induced deformations
Perform engineering analysis using Excel, glNT, AutoCAD, LPILE, APILE, Shaft, GeoStudio Suite, Settle3D, PLAXIS, FLAC, Revit, Python scripting and MATLAB
Evaluate the expected seismic performance of dams, levees, outlet pipes, probable maximum flood conditions
Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations using Microsoft Office software
Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work
Prepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documents
Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team and perform business development activities and prepare proposals to clients for prospective work
Qualification
Required
BA/BS +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education
Preferred
10+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience
Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
California Professional Engineer (PE) license
