Research Administrator Senior
The University of Michigan is seeking an experienced Research Administrator Senior to provide comprehensive pre- and post-award research administration support for a diverse research portfolio within the Data Science for Dynamic Intervention Decision-Making Center. The role involves managing post-award activities, leading proposal submissions, ensuring compliance with guidelines, and collaborating closely with faculty and staff.

Responsibilities
Manage post-award activities for a portfolio of sponsored projects, including award setup, financial oversight, effort reporting, subaward management, and closeout
Monitor expenditures and commitments to ensure alignment with sponsor terms, approved budgets, and project timelines
Reconcile accounts monthly for accuracy and allowability and to ensure compliance with SRC, U-M, and sponsor guidelines
Prepare and maintain monthly faculty effort spreadsheets to track effort commitments across time
Identify and resolve compliance, financial, and administrative issues; escalate risks as appropriate and recommend corrective actions
Prepare materials for annual sponsor project reports such as Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPR), preparing subcontracts in eResearch, routing purchase orders, managing PeoplePays, and other reporting requirements
Lead and coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of complex proposals, including multi-PI, multi-institutional, and center-scale submissions
Develop and review detailed budgets and justifications, including cost sharing, subawards, effort commitments, and compliance components
Interpret and apply sponsor, federal, and university policies to ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and compliant
Prepare and finalize commonly required proposals documents such as facilities, biosketches, and managing subcontract forms
Rout proposals through the eResearch proposal management system at the University of Michigan ensuring timely submissions
Prepare Just in Time documentation and other sponsored requests
Ensure compliance with sponsor, ISR, SRC and university guidelines
Help with the creation and management of Unfunded Agreements/Data Use Agreements (UFA/DUA) in eRPM
Help draft administrative pieces for Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications for human subjects' studies
Attend research administration meetings and training to remain current on changes in policies and procedures affecting proposal preparation, financial and administrative reporting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and 5 - 7 (Senior level) years of progressive experience in research administration, including both pre- and post-award responsibilities
Bachelor's degree and 3 - 4 (Intermediate level) years of progressive experience in research administration, including both pre- and post-award responsibilities
Experience with pre- and post-award federal awards
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Google suites and communication applications such as Zoom
Experience with business tools such as eResearch, Business Objects, and other administrative systems
Preferred
Experience supporting infrastructure and/or center grants
Experience with ISR research administration systems (e.g., proposal and award management, financial reporting systems)
